About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a data and analytics team within the retail/e-commerce sector. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that source data is accurate, well-structured, and fit for purpose within the data platform.
You will work closely with both business and IT stakeholders to ensure that the data required for analytics and applications is correctly modelled, validated, and maintained. The role involves working with master data, reference data, source systems, and data quality, with a strong focus on identifying and resolving data-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that source data and foundational data structures are correctly modelled and maintain a high level of data quality.
Structure, validate, and prepare datasets required for analytics and business applications.
Perform validation and quality assurance of master data.
Work with data related to items, hierarchies, market data, pricing, and other business-critical datasets.
Coordinate with master data systems and owners of source and reference data.
Communicate with source-system owners and stakeholders to identify and resolve data quality issues.
Investigate data inconsistencies and drive issues through to resolution.
Ensure that data models and database structures support both business and IT requirements.
Collaborate closely with development, integration, architecture, testing, product, and business teams.
Requirements:
Strong experience in Data Engineering and data modelling.
Solid understanding of information modelling and data models.
Strong SQL skills, including DDL.
Experience with Google BigQuery.
Experience with PostgreSQL or other SQL databases.
Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Experience with master data, reference data, or data quality is highly beneficial.
Ability to work across both technical and business domains.
